This course is designed for intermediate-to-advanced climbers who are comfortable climbing grade 18 and above and want to develop the skills to lead climb independently.

The course is intended for adults. Participants under 18 require parental consent.

Learn from experienced indoor and outdoor climbers where every technical detail matters.
PROGRAM OUTLINE
01
FOLLOW THE LEAD ROUTE
Seven hours of progressive instruction, practice and assessment across three consecutive weeks.
SESSION 1
SAFETY SYSTEMS & THE LEAD SET UP
Learn the lead climbing basics from the ground up: equipment, technique, knots, communication, key do’s and don’ts, and how to identify dangerous mistakes.

SESSION 3
PERSONAL TECHNIQUE & ASSESSMENT
Refine technique for your climbing, explore relevant outdoor topics if requested, then complete the Rockhouse lead assessment to work towards climbing independently.
SESSION 2
CLIMBING & BELAYING REPETITION
Build familiarity through practical lead climbing and belaying. Cover more complex safety techniques and ask questions linked to your own experience.
